I run my practice according to The Code and Ethics of Practice of The Association for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Ireland. This Code requires that I value integrity, impartiality and respect for all people who come to see me professionally. It also requires that I ensure the complete confidentiality of information acquired through my practice.

The Code of Ethics directs that the therapeutic ‘relationship’ shall not be exploitative in any way. Instead it shall promote your emotional autonomy and independence while being mindful of your reliance on me, as the therapist, in the course of treatment.

Your Wellbeing Comes First

I am further obliged not to make claims directly or indirectly to qualifications, affiliations and capabilities which I do not possess. And I must conduct myself in a way that does not undermine public confidence in my ability to carry out my duties.

The Code also requires that I shall neither attempt to secure or accept from you any financial or material benefit beyond the agreed fee.
