Dr Kevin Murphy, APPI, ICP, has an honours degree (BA) in Psychology and an honours Master of Science degree (MSc) in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, both from UCD. He trained at UCD’s School of Psychotherapy, in the Department of Medicine and Medical Science, St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin 4. He also holds a PhD in Psychoanalysis which was awarded by Deakin University Melbourne.

He is a Registered Practitioner Member of the Association for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Ireland (APPI) and is a former member of its Executive and Scientific Committees. He is a member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).

Expertise at work

He has presented research papers at numerous Irish and international conferences and his published work has been peer reviewed. He formerly lectured in Forensic Psychotherapy at Independent Colleges, Dublin to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is a supervising psychoanalyst and a training psychoanalyst for therapy students and practitioners.

He is also a graduate member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and an associate member of the Irish Psycho-Analytical Association (IP-AA). The ICP, APPI, IP-AA and PSI are represented on the Psychological Therapies Forum that is supporting the Irish Government’s introduction of State registration for therapists.
